Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF)
This post is about something very near and dear to my heart. Growing up as
a military kid was an exciting and humbling experience; I was able to see
and experience things most kids will never know. I’ve had the honor of
being surrounded by men and women of great integrity who hold themselves to
the highest standards imaginable. They are the U.S. Military’s Special
Operations, also known as “The Silent Professionals.”
The Special Operations Warrior Foundation provides scholarships to the
children of Special Ops soldiers killed in combat. They also provide
wounded warrior support to the Air Force, Navy, Marines and Army. With over
95% of the contributions going directly to their cause, they have earned a
four-star rating and a “Best in America” seal from the Combined Federal
Campaign.
This cause really hits home for me. My dad was in the Air Force Special Ops
for over 30 years, and during that time I met many great men and women, some
of whom subsequently lost their lives protecting our country. Without the
Special Operations Warrior Foundation, many of their children would not have
the opportunity to attend college.
David Goggins is a Navy Seal who is running for this foundation – literally!
He participates in races that cover over 200 miles. “With the Special
Operations Warrior Foundation’s help, we’ve put over 266 kids through
college,” says David, “And that’s what keeps me going. Like I said, I don’t
like running. I don’t like biking. I don’t like swimming. I do it to raise
money.” Needless to say, David is a true warrior!
