Why Building a Cabin, Day Trading, and Almost Getting Eaten By a Bear Can Change Your Quality of Life

North Carolina Cabin

There’s nothing like having a place to break away from the craziness of world travel and big cities like Vancouver, Las Vegas, Austin, and NYC. In fact, our new cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina is the epitome of productivity and relaxation.

Why?

Well, there’s just something about being removed from all the noise of “regular life”. Over the past few months, we’ve spent time in cool places like the beaches of Puerto Rico and the Olympic village of Whistler, British Columbia.

But I’ve found that I lose about 40% of my productivity when traveling or in a new environment. And after taking about 6 months to travel and work on some major projects, it’s great to sit back and focus on day trading and closing real estate deals like these. Not to mention the quality time I get with my new wife.

Coming Face-to-Face With a Momma Bear

Ever since my trek through the Himalayas in Bhutan, I’ve become obsessed with disconnecting from technology and reconnecting with those things that matter most.

And last year, my dad and I started hiking portions of the Appellation Trail. There’s nothing like hoofing 8 miles a day with a 50 pound backpack to make you appreciate the luxurious things in life.

Hiking the appellation trail

After a long day of hiking, we decided to set up hammocks to catch some Z’s. Then, in the middle of the night I was awakened by something running around our camp site. At first thought, I knew it had to be a squirrel or deer. But my heart stopped when I rolled over and saw a massive momma bear sniffing my head!

The worst part was that her two hungry cubs were sitting close by. This meant they were hungry, and looking to us for a source of food. Thankfully, we had tied our food up between two trees and I didn’t have any protien bars in my pockets. They watched us for most of the night, but ended up moving out of our area.  Now I know what it means to be “scared stiff”.

Watching My Wife Become a Better Trader Than Me

There’s nothing hotter than watching my wife destroy the market. Seriously, after trading for 10 years and teaching thousands of traders, she impresses the hell out of me.

I think some woman make much better traders than men. Here’s why…

They don’t have massive egos like some guys. In fact, in an industry littered with narcissist and sociopaths, it’s great to see my better half display the traits of a top-level trader.

Now, there are some incredibly skilled traders at the Emini Academy that have gone through our MAP Trading Program. But most guys have an extra mental battle to overcome. And people who are stubborn (like me) often have to totally reprogram the way they process information.
